Senior high school students in Zhejiang province are doing a new course called General Technology．The course, which has been introduced to Senior 2 students, aims to teach students technical skills and improve their designing ability.

The course requires students to use various kinds of common tools safely．Some basic life skills, such as repairing or washing clothes, are also included in the lectures．However, more importantly they are expected to be able to design and make an item that is useful in their lives．They also have to attend a written test for the course before graduation

As it is totally different from those traditional courses, the course is very popular with students. They enjoy it mainly because it is closely related to everyday life.
