7、 A survey was taken of public opinions of mis-spelled words which frequently appear on the newspaper.
About 47% of the readers surveyed think that it is inevitable for a newspaper to make some mistakes. Nowadays, there is so much information in numerous newspapers that writers can still make themselves understood even if there are some of careless mistake. Besides , newspapers need easy comprehension so that readers can get what they want the first time. Therefore, it is natural for this kind of things to happen. However, some 53% of them hold the view that the quality of a newspaper depends on the editor’s attitude. If there are too many mis-spelled words, readers will lose interest in the paper gradually.
In my opinion , editors should never be too careful in checking every detail before the paper is published. On the other hand, we readers should be more tolerant to some small mistakes on newspapers.
