Deloraine

Tasmanian towns don’t get much more attractive than Deloranine, lying at the foothills of the Great Western Tiers.Although it does get some tourism traffic, it has kept its soul.And if you time things right, you can go shopping at Deloraine’s Showground Market (first Saturday of each month).

Narawntapu National Park

Until recently, this place was called Asbestos Range National Park.Don’t you just want to go? A wish name change should result in more people making a side trip.The land here is special, with wetlands at the edges.It really comes to life at nightfall as the birds play.

Bothwell

Off the Midland Highway, Bothwell gets less traffic so you may be alone as you wind through the cemetery of St Luke’s Church where some of the headstone inscriptions (碑銘) are so old that they have worn away to a shadow.

Maria Island

How about an island, off the coast of an island? There are ferry services from Triabunna and Orford to Maria Island.Walkers can take a ferry to the top meeting of Bishop &Clerk, or walk to sandstone along the coast.(see mariaisland.com.au)
