Do you know the Dragon Boat Festival? It is related to (與……有關(guān)) Qu Yuan, a great poet in the Warring States period (戰(zhàn)國時期).
Qu Yuan came from the State of Chu (楚國) and he loved his country very much. He wanted to make his country better, so he gave many suggestions (建議) to the king. But the king never listened to him. Qu Yuan was very sad. He jumped into Miluo River (汨羅江) in Hunan province on the fifth day of the fifth lunar (農(nóng)歷) month. The people respected and loved Qu Yuan very much. They rowed the boats and tried to find Qu Yuan. But they didn't find him. They didn't want the fish to eat Qu Yuan's body. So they threw many rice cakes into the river to feed the fish.
From then on (從那時起), people eat rice cakes and row dragon boats on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month to remember Qu Yuan.
