The Blue Bird
The Blue Bird is a famous play by Maurice Maeterlinck. It tells the story of two children, Tyltyl and Mytyl. They go on a magical journey to find the "Blue Bird of Happiness".
With a special hat, they can hear what things are saying—like bread, sugar, and water. These things join the children on their adventure.
They visit many strange places. In the Land of Memory, they meet their late grandparents. This part is warm and dreamlike—time stops. Grandparents and other dead family members only "wake up" when the children think of them.
After visiting many magical lands, the children think they have returned empty-handed, but then they discover that the blue bird was in their house all along!
The heartwarming story teaches us that happiness is often close to us, but we must learn to see it.
