Ershi Wenchuang is a shop in my hometown. Its name generally means "childhood culture", and it lives up to its name.
At the front was an old TV. A show from the 80s was playing. On the wall were pictures of movie stars and singers from the old days. There was also an old bike by the door. Walk in, and another old TV would catch your eye. It was connected to a video game: Super Mario! At first, I thought the game was boring. But once I found out my parents played it when they were kids, I was really excited to try it. I was surprised at how such a simple game could be fun.
The store sells products from the 70s, 80s and 90s. They're mostly candies and little toys. In the end, I bought a little packet of plums (話梅), the kind my mum used to eat. After walking out of the store I gobbled (狼吞虎咽) up the plums. They tasted really nice.
My parents had such a wonderful childhood even though they didn't have much technology as we do today. So perhaps today, we don't really need too much of that, either.
