Chinese people have always valued honesty. Many stories throughout history show the importance of this virtue (美德). Let's take a look at two of them.
The first story is about Bu, a general (將軍) in the Western Han Dynasty. Bu was known for his honesty. Once, he was sent on a mission (任務(wù)). During the trip, he found a piece of gold on the road. He could have taken it, but he didn't. Instead, he put it under a tree and left. Later, when he returned, the gold was still there. This story shows that Bu was an honest person. Even today, we still use the saying "A promise from Bu is worth a lot of gold." to describe an honest person.
The second story is from more recent times. There was a businessman named Li Daquan. At that time, people mainly used gold, silver (銀) and copper (銅) as money. It was dangerous because others might rob (搶劫) them. One day, Li Daquan and his friend were going to a faraway place to do business. They carried a lot of money with them. Li's friend suggested that they set up a bank to get a draft. They could then use the draft to get their money back from other banks. Li liked the idea and acted quickly. Soon, his bank, called Rishengchang, grew to have over 30 branches (分行) across the country. As China's first modern bank, it paved (鋪就) the way for the banking system in China.
Each answer should not exceed 8 words.
1. When did the first story happen?
2. What does the underlined word "it" in the passage refer to?
3. In the second story, what were the advantages of using drafts?
4. What does the passage mainly talk about?
5. What will you do if you can't keep a promise?
答案:1.In the Western Han Dynasty.
解析:根據(jù)第二段第一句“The first story is about Bu, a general (將軍) in the Western Han Dynasty.”
2.A promise is worth lots of gold.
3.It was safe.
解析:根據(jù)第三段“It was dangerous because others might rob (搶劫) them... They could then use the draft to get their money back from other banks.”
4.The importance of honesty.
解析:文章開頭“Chinese people have always valued honesty. Many stories throughout history show the importance of this virtue (美德).”
5.I will apologize in time.
